{Raleigh NC Newborn Photographer} A Very Special Baby BoyThis was a very special newborn photography session, for a few reasons. First of all, this wonderful family is near and dear to our hearts. You see, this little boy's mama has been both of my boys' first grade teacher. Our first son was in her class last year and this year, our younger son is lucky enough to have her as a teacher too. It was such an honor to meet little Myles, a long awaited baby. He was such a dream to work with. Not only was he cute as can be, but he was so laid back. I'm not sure if I ever saw him awake. I think he slept the entire time, completely content with me taking pictures of him. I got so many beautiful portraits of him and we still finished early.
I normally don't show black and white photos on my website or blog, but I thought it would be fun to share what some look like in black and white. They can be just as beautiful. I most often prefer color, but with the shadowing, both are so nice to have. This daddy was such a champ at holding his little boy. Little Myles is so comfy sleeping in daddy's arms.
This pose below is one I often start the baby portraits with, once family portraits are finished. For whatever reason, babies love being wrapped up like this. The little smile just melts your heart.
Funny story. This baby boy's nursery is decorated with a "Where the Wild Things Are" theme. Months ago, Mama ordered a crown and a few other props to do go with the newborn photo session. For some reason, the order was never delivered. I felt badly that they didn't have the props they wanted for the session, so I decided to try to make something myself. I created this furry crown to use during the session. Truth be told- I tried making a little monster stuffie too, but that thing didn't come out quite right and looked way too creepy to give a baby. Anyway, I added a quote from the book to this cute little pose with Myles wearing the crown.
Keeping with the neutral colors theme, I pulled out this pretty plaid blanket with fall colors on it.
Here his is, curled up in a little wooden bowl, kept comfy by some rustic wool batting.
Sweet little Myles was such a joy to photograph. I am so honored to have had the opportunity to work with him. If you are interested in newborn photography, what questions do you have?
