{Raleigh NC Newborn Photography} An Unforgettable Christmas Surprise

July 13, 2016  •  3 Comments

This sweet little girl's mama and I met 2 years ago on a mission trip to Belize.  I was so excited when I found out that she and her husband were expecting.  I couldn't wait to meet her and take her newborn portraits.  We met at her home in Raleigh.  I do all my sessions in my clients' homes, which makes it very convenient for families. My friend had such an amazing space that I wanted to buy her house and turn the room into a studio!  We joked about me renting it out.  She had a separate suite above her garage and it had gorgeous natural light.  I don't have a studio, but in my dreams, I would love to have a home studio, a place that's on my property (I would love a few acres) and that's separate from my house.  I could write a whole blog post about my dream studio, but we'll save that for another day.  Even if I do have a studio someday, I will still always offer in-home sessions.  It's just such a nice option for parents to have.

My friend's little girl came a little bit early and surprised everyone by being born on Christmas Eve.  She gives a new and special meaning to the holiday.  I was so excited to hear when she had been born.  We talked about how my little boy had had a similar story.  He wasn't due until early January, but had a scheduled c section on December 28th.  It turned out that he hadn't wanted to wait that long, and came the day after Christmas.  I always joke that when I went into labor on Christmas Day I told my son that he better stay in there a little longer because I didn't want him to be born on Christmas.  I always love meeting other babies who are born around Christmas.

This little girl had one of the sweetest little faces I've ever seen.  Such beautiful little features.
