Late Summer Outdoor Newborn Session {Fuquay Varina Newborn Photographer}

Strangely enough, I met this fun family several years ago when they bought a puppy and hired me to help pet sit during the work day.  Since they live right in my neighborhood, it was a fun way to get out of the house in the middle of the day.  Have I ever mentioned that I love animals?  I was so excited when I found out one day that they were expecting their first baby, a little boy.

I met this little cutie when he was about a week old.  He had such blonde hair, something that seems sort of rare in newborns.  Although I live in a subdivision, I am lucky to have a little area practically right outside my house that provides such a beautiful backdrop for outdoor newborn portraits.  I am in love with images of newborns in nature, enjoying the fresh air, surrounded by soft, cuddly blankets.  The warm months give the perfect setting for an outdoor newborn portrait session, and this day in early September was no exception.

This is probably my favorite image from the session.  He looks so serene, sound asleep in his basket.  I love the textures of the rocks and moss below.

A Tonka dump truck was purchased for this baby right before the session. The parents wanted a few pictures of him sleeping in it.  The quilt belonged to the baby's mama when she was little.

Did I mention that this little guy was awake for a good part of his session?  We was so curious.  He just had to know what was going on.  Newborn sessions are best done when the baby is less than two weeks old, but even then, many newborn babies like to be awake sometimes.

A beautiful new family outside, enjoying the warm, fresh air.

Some of my favorite newborn portraits are those taken outside.  If you're concerned that your new baby would be uncomfortable outdoors, you might be surprised.  The fresh, warm air and natural sounds can be very comforting.  These unique newborn sessions can be done during the warm months, typically April through October.  In this session, we did about half the session inside and half outside.  If you are interested in booking a newborn portrait session, please email me at erica@ericacourtinephotography.com .  I can provide the information you need and answer and questions you have.  I am a natural light photographer serving Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, and surrounding areas.
